Cornucopia, also known as the “horn of plenty,” is not only an excellent word, but also a great symbol of food, abundance and prosperity.
Lisa and I are grateful that our cornucopias overfloweth, spilling out awesome families, delectable eats and semi-effective slimming undergarments.
As we dig into our gooey pecan pie, here are a few more things we’re especially thankful for:
Lisa appreciates:
Her KitchenAid Immersion Blender – a favorite kitchen tool for no fuss or mess when pureeing soups and sauces.
Ellen DeGeneres – a woman who made it cool for Lisa to wear her sneakers to the Emmy Awards.
Golden Alps – an inexpensive, yet hard-to-find white chocolate that is, bar none (sorry for the terrible pun), her favorite white chocolate to bake with.
Me – who else will gladly watch her and mop her brow as she toils in a hot kitchen?
Her Dualit Vario 6 Slice Toaster – wide slots, iconic design and puts out 130 slices of toast per hour. Need I say more?
I am beholden to:
Quartzy – a great Scrabble word that got me 126 points.
Shun Knives – weighty with a powerful steel blade, the Shun slices with ease and makes a left-handed set just for us (both me and Lisa) Southpaws.
Special People – Ben & Jerry, Mrs. Butterworth, Dr. Pepper, Mike & Ike, Orville Redenbacher and Cracker Jack.
Lisa – who else will let me watch her and mop her brow as she toils in the kitchen?
Bond No.9 – maker of the best scents on the planet, especially the Andy Warhol Silver Factory perfume and the Nuits de Noho candle.
We praise:
Musicians - and Thanksgiving tunes that’ll have you too saying merci, danke, gracias…

Another stomach-satisfying, visually gratifying, fresh-mouthed cookbook
