Recipe: Double-Dipped, Cookies ‘n Cream, Chocolatey Heaven-on-a-Stick
From Bite Me Cookbook: August is State Fair month. Across the country, throngs of people pay admission for Tilt-A-Whirl thrills and gut-busting grub. If you’re thinking of the humble hot dog or basic cotton candy, think again. There’s a food-on-a-stick frenzy that’s sweeping the nation. Take for example the Minnesota State Fair, best known for the 70+ varieties of on-a-stick bites such as alligator sausage, fried pickles, hot bologna, mac and cheese, tiramisu and spaghetti and meatballs. If those aren’t your cup of tea (they also serve coffee-on-a-stick), you can head to the Iowa State Fair to sample the portable pork-chop or salad-on-a-stick. Ingredients
- 3 cups crushed Oreos
- 1 (8oz/250g) package cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup white chocolate, melted
- 1 cup milk chocolate, melted
- 24 lollipop sticks
Directions
- In a medium bowl, mix the crushed Oreos with the softened cream cheese. Roll mixture into 1-inch balls, insert lollipop sticks in the center and place on wax paper. Put in the refrigerator to cool, about 2 hours. If you’re short on time, place in freezer, about 1 hour.
- Melt both chocolates in separate bowls and dip each ball in one or both. Place back on wax paper and refrigerate until hardened.
